M 61: Ziemlich helle Galaxie, erscheint nach Westen abgeflacht und nach Osten rund. Vor dem östlichen Arm ist im Norden ein dunkles Gebiet zu erkennen. Der westliche Spiralarm zweigt im Süden ab, er ist sehr kurz. Im Norden und im Norden des östlichen Arms sind hellere Verdickungen zu erkennen. Im gesamten Südosten erscheint die Galaxie schwächer. Die Galaxie hat einen hellen Kern, aber nur ein kaum helleres Zentralgebiet.
M 61: Pretty bright galaxy, appears flat to the west and round to the east. A darker area separates the eastern arm from the main body. The western arm starts in the south and is very short. Brighter knots are visible in the north and north of the eastern arm. The galaxy appears fainter in the whole southeastern part. The galaxy has a bright core but only a slightly brighter central area.
