Auf meinem Beobachtungsprogramm standen die zwei Galaxien M 59 und M 60. Als ich mich per Sucher hinhoppte und dann auf das Teleskop wechselte hatte ich plötzlich dieses Feld vor mir. Da ich keine Lust auf eine einigermaßen unsichere Identifikation mit der Uranometria hatte und ich dieses Feld auch recht hübsch fand entschloß ich mich kurzerhand für eine Zeichnung.
Von links nach rechts: M 59, NGC 4638, NGC 4647 und M 60.
On my list were the two galaxies M 59 and M 60. When I hopped there with the finder and changed to the telescope I had this field in front of me. Because I had no desire to do a considerably unsure identification with the Uranometria and I found the field pretty nice I decided to make that drawing.
From left to right: M 59, NGC 4638, NGC 4647 and M 60.
M 59: Sehr helle und runde Galaxie. Sehr dominierender, flächiger Kern. Die Randbereiche sind recht klein. Sonst ist die Galaxie aber Strukturlos. Nördlich ist ein mittelheller Stern.
M 60: sehr hell und rund, sehr stark zur Mitte konzentriert mit einem kleinen Zentrum und Kern, wenig westlich liegt der Begleiter NGC 4647
NGC 4638: liegt zwischen zwei 10mag Sternen, ziemlich klein aber ziemlich flächenhell! Längliches Zentralgebiet mit Doppelkern? Die Galaxie liegt zwischen M 59 und M 60 mit NGC 4647
NGC 4647: Schwach direkt sichtbar, länglich, im NO dicht bei M60 angrenzend. Schönes, jedoch nicht ganz einfaches Doppelpack! Großer Helligkeitskontrast!
M 59: Very bright round galaxy. Very dominant extended core, small halo. No further structure. North is a moderately bright star.
M 60: Very bright and round, very concentrated towards the middle with a small center and a nucleus. West preceding is the companion NGC 4647
NGC 4638: Situated between two 10mag stars. Pretty small but pretty high surface brightness! Elongated center with a double nucleus?
NGC 4647: Faintly visible with direct vision. Elongated, close to M 60 in NE. Nice but not very easy double! Large brightness contrast!
