Für mich ist der Schwanennebel M17 gleichauf mit dem Orionnebel als der beeindruckenste Gasnebel! Leider steht er für Mitteleuropäer recht tief. Die Zeichnung entstand zudem unter schlechten Bedigungen und ohne Filter. Sie muß bei besseren Bedingungen unbedingt noch einmal wiederholt werden, dann wird es aber wahrscheinlich schon sehr schwierig, den Detailreichtum noch zu Papier zu bringen!
For me the Swan Nebula M17 is equal to the Orion Nebula as the most impressive bright nebula. Unfortunately it rises only low above the horizon for Central Europeans. The drawing was made under urban skies and without having a filter. It must be repeated when I have better conditions. But then it will be difficult to bring all the detail to paper!
M 17: schöner schwimmender Schwan, Flügel am hellsten, vor dem Flügelansatz eine helle Stelle abgetrennt durch eine Dunkelwolke, vorderer Teil des Schwans relativ schwach, mittlerer Teil das Halses hell dann wieder Kopf schwächer
M 17: beautiful swimming swan, the wing is the brightest, west of the wing is a brighter area cut off by a darker cloud. Front part of the swan somewhat fainter, middle of the neck brighter, head fainter again.
